WOW Volunteer Opportunities
On behalf of the Weeks of Welcome Committee and Office of New Student Programs, I would like to extend an invitation to be a part of the 2013 Weeks of Welcome (WOW) experience.
The Weeks of Welcome (WOW) program is designed to connect the UMSL community together by providing educational, entertaining, cultural and creative programming to enhance new and returning students to campus.
In support of this tradition, we are asking for your participation in a few of the Weeks of Welcome events as your schedule permits. Please reference below the “snapshots” of ways YOU can help welcome new students to the UMSL community.
SUBMIT YOUR EVENTS FOR WOW CALENDAR
(WOW Calendar dates for first six weeks: Sunday, August 11-Saturday, September 21).
To submit your events: complete the attached excel template spreadsheet and email to Megan Green at email@example.com before the deadline.
Deadline for all event submissions: Friday, July 12, 2013
All event submissions will be used to include in a large calendar publication that will be printed and distributed to the new students during the first few days of classes. They will also be available on the WOW website page at www.umsl.edu/WOW.
NEW STUDENT MOVE-IN
(Wednesday, August 14th at Oak Residence Hall)
New students living in Oak Residence Hall will be moving in on this day. As these new students move into their new home, we are seeking volunteers to help serve as Welcome Home Crew members. This opportunity would allow you to mingle and assist by unloading, and carrying boxes to the new student’s rooms.

This is the welcoming picnic for all faculty, academic administration, staff, new students and families to University of Missouri-St. Louis. There is an opportunity for you to mix and mingle with incoming students to make a connection, discuss the academic life, and reassure their decision to coming to UMSL.
SERENDIPITY SENDOFF *NEW TRADITION
(Sunday, August 18th at 6:30 pm; Millennium Student Center to Thomas Jefferson Library)
Immediately following the Welcome Picnic, a new tradition will be born! The Serendipity Sendoff will welcome new students to the Triton family and officially kickoff the new academic year. We are looking for volunteers including current students, faculty, staff, and alumni to line the pathway leading from the Millennium Student Center to the Alumni Circle just south of the Thomas Jefferson Library. The Serendipity Sendoff will include a ceremonial passing of the torch to the incoming class. Serendipity which means “good fortune” is to represent many things but mostly a special meaning of accomplishment for getting to UMSL and now starting this new journey and experience at UMSL.

Help-A-Triton is here for you! Students, faculty, and staff from all over campus spend the first two days of each semester staffing Help-A-Triton tables located in high-traffic areas to assist students navigate the campus. We are seeking volunteers to represent various table locations across north and south campus to help new Tritons by passing out campus maps, assisting with questions, distributing Weeks of Welcome program booklets, and wishing them good luck as they begin with their Fall semester.

The Fall Expo is a great opportunity for student organizations and departments to welcome new students and encourage them to Get Involved!
