The Weeks of Welcome (WOW) program is designed to connect the UMSL community together by providing educational, entertaining, cultural and creative programming to enhance the UMSL Experience for new and returning students.
In support of this tradition, we are asking for your participation in a few of the Weeks of Welcome events as your schedule permits. Please reference below the “snapshots” of ways YOU can help welcome new students to the UMSL community.
EVENT SUBMISSIONS FOR WOW SPRING 2017 CALENDAR
Deadline for all event submissions: OPEN, Deadline is Thursday, December 15, 2017
All event submissions will be used to include in a large calendar publication that will be printed and distributed to the new students during the first few days of classes. They will also be available on the WOW website page at www.umsl.edu/WOW.

WELCOME MOVE-IN CREW
(Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Mansion Hill Apartments—New and Returning Move In Day)
New and returning student living in Mansion Hill apartments will be moving in on this day. As these students move onto campus, we are seeking volunteers to help serve as Welcome Crew members. This opportunity would allow you to mingle and assist by unloading, and carrying boxes to the returning students rooms.
(Friday, August 18, 2017 at Oak and Villa Residence Halls---New Students Move In Day)
New students living in Oak and Villa Residence Halls will be moving in on this day. As these new students move into their new home, we are seeking volunteers to help serve as Welcome Crew members. This opportunity would allow you to mingle and assist by unloading, and carrying boxes to the new student’s rooms.
(Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Oak and Villa Residence Hall---Returning Students Move In Day)
Returning student living in Oak Residence Hall will be moving in on this day. As these returning students move back onto campus, we are seeking volunteers to help serve as Welcome Crew members. This opportunity would allow you to mingle and assist by unloading, and carrying boxes to the returning students rooms.
(Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 4:30 pm: Meet in front of Thomas Jefferson Library)
The Serendipity Sendoff will welcome new students to the Triton family and officially kickoff the new academic year. We are looking for volunteers including current students, faculty, staff, and alumni to line the pathway leading from the Millennium Student Center to the Alumni Circle just south of the Thomas Jefferson Library. The Serendipity Sendoff will include a ceremonial passing of the torch to the incoming class. Serendipity which means “good fortune” is to represent this new journey. Immediately following, the Welcome Picnic will begin at the Millennium Student Center.
(Monday, August 21, 2017 and Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, various locations around campus)
Help-A-Triton is here for you! Students, faculty, and staff from all over campus spend the first two days of each semester staffing Help-A-Triton tables located in high-traffic areas to assist students navigate the campus. We are seeking volunteers to staff various table locations across north and south campus to help new Tritons by passing out campus maps, assisting with questions, distributing Weeks of Welcome program booklets, and wishing them good luck as they begin their Fall semester.
(Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 am – 1:30 pm; North Campus Quadrangle)
The Fall Expo is a great opportunity for student organizations and departments to welcome new students and encourage them to Get Involved! For more information and to register for a table, please contact Tegan Klevorn, Coordinator in the Office of Student Life, at KlevornT@umsl.edu.
SHOW YOUR TRITON SPIRIT
Faculty and staff will have an opportunity to purchase a Welcome Crew t-shirt to wear during the first few days of classes. More information to come later this summer!
