Learning about life as a Triton doesn’t stop when school starts. Encore Series is our campus-wide comprehensive First-Year Success Series that provides UMSL first-year students the opportunity to continue meeting other students, connecting with campus resources, and getting to know the University, all while having a ton of fun! 

These workshops will help you:

Develop confidence and competence as a university student.

TBA: MyView, DARS, MyGateway, Oh My:  Navigating Online Learning Tools *Sponsored by New Student Programs

Let’s face it we’re not all tech savvy! But, confident or not, we all need to know how to use our University’s online learning tools. With this session, learn more about these tools and how to use them.

September 10 and 11: Resume Mania *Sponsored by Career Services

September 13: Fall Internship and Job Fair *Sponsored by Career Services

Fall TBA: Major and Minor Fair

Still not sure what you want to major in?  Visit with Deans and faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, the College of Education, College of Fine Arts and Communication, College of Nursing, Department of Social Work and Department of Engineering to learn more about the programs available to you at UMSL.

October 22: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm True Colors Leadership Workshop for New Students *Sponsored by New Student Programs, Residence Life, Student Life and Millennium Student Center  

Are you hungry to learn more about yourself and leadership?  Come learn which leadership traits that you possess, and how they can be applied to your experience at UMSL this year.

August 18: New Transfer and Commuter Students Meet and Greet *Sponsored by New Student Programs

Take this advantage to connect with transfer and commuter students during the Transfer and Commuter dessert reception.  Come learn about all the opportunities to get involved at UMSL from a panel of transfer and commuter students who represent a variety of clubs, organizations and activities. From commuter-specific organizations, and activities to fit nearly any interest to athletic teams-there truly is something for everyone at UMSL and these students have lived it. They will share information that will help connect you with the opportunities that are just awaiting you!

October 4-6: UMSL Family Weekend  *Sponsored by New Student Programs

October 17: Orientation Reunion Event and Leadership Application Process Information Sessions *Sponsored by New Student Programs

Join us for a night to reconnect with friends and staff from Orientation and Weeks of Welcome!  Share memories and make new ones at this fun event where we will check out our slide show and catch up with everyone! Free Food, games, and an opportunity to hear about how to be a part of the 2014 Orientation Team.

Fall TBA: Semester Scream Night  Hooray, you have accomplished your first college academic semester! Join us for a night of relaxation, mingling and “scream out your stress” as you prepare for your first finals! Learn some of the ways to deal with final exam pressure and stress, how to stay healthy, and receive healthy tips. Free prizes, handouts, healthy food, and giveaways will also be available!

Living in the big city can be a little overwhelming and we want to highlight ways to keep you safe on campus and in the St. Louis area. Join us for this fun interactive Self Defense class with the UMSL Police Department to find out ways to reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime, and what to look for in prevention.

September 3-9: Campus Rec's AEROBICS & SPINNING classes are FREE this week! * Sponsored by Mark Twain Rec Center
