Q. Is this the PeopleSoft project?
A. The main software to be installed originated as PeopleSoft, but the project includes other software, such as classroom scheduling, so it is much broader than just PeopleSoft. The software installation for the UM-St. Louis campus has been renamed MyView.

Q. How will this change impact students, faculty and staff?
A. For students, the new system will replace STAR and TRAIN. Faculty and staff will no longer use SIS/CICS. The new system, MyView will be internet-based and will be available 24/7 for access by faculty, staff and students. Students will have more services such as the ability to track “to do” lists for applying for admission or financial aid.

Q. How long will it take to implement?
A.
Students will be able to register for the Summer 2008 semester using MyView and access their charges in April 2008.  The financial Aid portion of MyView will be available in April 2008 to students beginning with the 2008 Fall Semester aid application.

Q. Who is going to show me how to use MyView?
A. Training will be customized for faculty, staff and students and the way they use specific MyView functionality. Training will occur prior to the scheduled implementation. There will be several different modes of training which will include face-to-face classroom style, self-paced web resources, and manuals.

Q. Will all legacy systems still run when MyView becomes live for Records and Registration, and Financial Aid?
A. CICS systems will be discontinued on a schedule that corresponds to the implementation of MyView systems.  For example, when the student records information in CICS is converted into MyView, and that information in MyView becomes available for campus access, the CICS student records system will be shut down.

Q.What is an emplid and why don't we use social security numbers?
A. The Employee ID (emplID) is a PeopleSoft system-generated number that is unique to each student, faculty, and staff that is entered into the database. Using emplIDs to identify students protects the identity of a student more effectively than using social security numbers as the student ID.  You will only have one emplID regardless of your relationship with the University such as prospective student, student, staff member, faculty member, alumni, or parent.

Q.Can faculty and staff see the names of students who are on a class wait list?
A. Yes.
