HISTORY: For many years Mr. Creedy worked with the Water Transport Association, and this collection reflects his leadership and as a spokesman in the water transportation industry. The materials are all devoted to the use and development of the waterways in the towboat and barge era
SCOPE: The photographs are organized into the categories: vessels and events; and people and companies. The Water Transport Association was an important advocate of inland waterways transportation system development, and handled the critical law suits of the industry before the Interstate Commerce Commission and in the courts for many years The papers in these cases are quite extensive, and provide a running account of the problems of the industry particularly as they relate to the rail-water relationship.
HOLDINGS: Approximately 10 linear feet. This collection consists of books, government documents, speeches, reports, photographs, papers, and files of the specific events: the all-transportation package, Feed Grains to New England; Southern Railway Case, and the CSX case.
ACCESS: This is Special Collection P-6. Some of the collection may be photocopied, digitally scanned, or photographed, depending on condition. A listing for the John A. Creedy Photograph Collection and the main John A. Creedy Collection is available for download.
