P-47: H. B. Munn Letter

ABSTRACT: The H.B. Munn Letter 1860 collection consists of a seven page letter that H.B. Munn wrote addressed to "Dear Doc" on June 8, 1860 and describes the devastation of Camanche, Iowa after a tornado on June 3, 1860.

SCOPE: The H.B. Munn Letter 1860 collection consists of a seven page letter that H.B. Munn wrote addressed to "Dear Doc" on June 8, 1860. Mr. Munn was aboard the Grey Eagle steamboat on the Mississippi river. Mr. Munn describes the itinerary of his trip as they passed through several towns. The Grey Eagle also passed through Camanche, Iowa after the town was devastated by the "Great Tornado of the Northwest." Mr. Munn describes in detail the condition of the town and it's people as the steamboat passed by.
