From New Maps of Missouri & Kansas Showing the Railroads Completed and Projected
(1868), a rare set of maps published by the Western Farm and Immigration
Company of St. Louis. This firm also published the Western Quarterly,
which was advertised to "contain all the latest and most reliable information
about Missouri and Kansas with practical suggestions to immigrants as
to profitable investment of labor and capital in industrial pursuits in
the Great West." A dollar subscription included a "Premium Certificate,"
entitling the subscriber to an "equal share in the division among the
patrons of $185,000 of real estate."
