George Gerules, a PhD candidate in Applied Math / Computer Science, was selected for a 2 month accelerator/challenge with NASA's Frontier Development Lab (FDL). FDL brings together planetary scientists and data/computer scientists to work on identifying threats that affect our planet or mining off earth resources. 5 Teams were formed, working on a number of areas including asteroid/earth collision detection/avoidance and solar weather. George will be working with the Solar Terrestrial Interactions team using large scale GPU cluster computing. See link to FDL 2017 handbook and FDL's website for more information.
