Scholarships and Awards

The Department of Economics is pleased to offer a number of scholarships and awards to economic majors, all which are based on merit.  A departmental committee chooses the recipients of these awards based upon nomination and recommendations of individual faculty members. 


The Sharon G. Levin Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) junior or senior major in economics who has demonstrated academic merit and financial need.


The Elizabeth M. Clayton Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) junior or senior and to a half-time (6 hours or more per semester) graduate student who are majoring in economics and have demonstrated academic merit.


The Economics Alumni Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) undergraduate major in economics who has demonstrated academic merit.


The Robert Loring Allen Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time (12 or more hours per semester) undergraduate major in economics who has demonstrated academic merit.


The Thorstein Veblen Essay Award is given each fall to an undergraduate student and a graduate student who are deemed to have written the best general economic topic essay (paper) during the previous academic year.


The Simon Kuznets Essay Award is given each fall to an undergraduate student and a graduate student who are deemed to have written the best quantitative aspect of economics topic essay (paper) during the previous academic year.
