We've compiled a set of helpful hints to try to insure you have an easier
application completion. If you problem is not outlined below, please contact
the Office of Student Services at 1-800-EYE-UMSL.
1) Be sure to save each page before continuing
2) When entering university information, save before adding another or
before adding your degree. Also, remember that a Bachelor of Arts is really
an AB degree.
3) Anything listed with an * by it must be entered
4) Errors in PeopleSoft occur when exact matches are not found--use the
magnifying lens by an entry to look for something (for example, the city
of St. Louis must be exactly Saint Louis not St. Louis and we mere mortals
aren't always sure which Peoplesoft has determined to be the way it is
entered). Also, if you attended a university, let's say in Clayton, MO,
even though this is a suburb of St. Louis, the match will be for its city
in Clayton, not St. Louis.
5) If installed, turn off the pop up blocker (we have found that the blockers
can cause the spaces where you fill in information not to appear)
6) Clear temporary files (in Internet Explorer, do this by clicking on
Tools > Internet Options > click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
Files section
7) When in doubt, save the page and then come back to it
8) The browser used should be Internet Explorer
9) Page 4 cannot be modified in any way
10) Lookup lists often have more than one page, and you may not see all
of them. Scroll up to see the page arrow.
11) If paying your
application fee by credit or debit card, please input all of the information
before you hit submit. Once an application has been submitted the only
way to pay is by mailing in a check or money order.
12) Remember to strike SUBMIT when you have entered everything. Saving
it does not submit it. If everything has gone well, you will receive an
email back thanking you for your interest in our program and outlining
some other items for you. However, if any problems have occurred on our
end, you may hear from either Mr. Jerry Hoffman (Admissions Office) or
Dr. Barb Brown (Optometry) to clarify your application.
