Before you begin applying to the College of Optometry at UM-St. Louis, it is recommended that you become familiar with the application process. Carefully follow the directions and tips provided. Doing so will ensure that your application is complete, accurate and reflective of your ability to become an exceptional optometrist.

The application season for the College of Optometry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis begins August 1 for the class entering the following year. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible after the August 1 opening date.

This application site includes all the forms you will need to apply. If you should need more than one copy of a form, you can copy any of the forms or download additional copies.

Helpful Hints for Our New On-Line Application

EARLY SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE:
If you wish to be considered for a merit scholarship, ALL application materials must be completed and received by the College of Optometry no later than 5 p.m. on December 15.

FINAL DEADLINE: Please note new deadline date.
All application materials must be delivered to the College of Optometry’s Office of Student Services no later than 5 p.m. on February 15. No application materials will be accepted which are postmarked on February 15.

PREREQUISITES:
You must complete a series of prerequisites courses. For a listing of requirements refer to the academic record form within this site. A Statistics course is required. It is recommended that you take Psychological Statistics to fulfill this requirement. Please note additional recommended courses include biochemistry and anatomy & physiology for your third biology course.

HOW WILL I KNOW THAT THE COLLEGE OF OPTOMETRY RECEIVED ALL MY APPLICATION MATERIALS?
You will receive a monthly application “status” communication from the Office of Student Services. Once our office has received all of your application materials, you will be notified that your application is complete. Applications are reviewed on a daily basis.

INVITATION FOR INTERVIEWS:
Typically, interviews begin as early as October and extend into the beginning of April. An interview will be offered to you by email. If you did not provide us with an email address, your interview request letter will be mailed to you.
