Students Show Holiday Spirit

Sweaters

Students at the College of Optometry participated in the first annual Ugly Holiday Sweater contest, on Friday, December 09, 2016.  Students competed for prizes in four categories: best overall ugly sweater, funniest, most creative, and ugliest. Students were also provided hot chocolate and cookies to celebrate the end of classes before finals week.  Four students took home prize packs including UMSL gear and Starbucks cups, courtesy of Starbucks in Lake Saint Louis. The four winners were Jessica Broodryk ’20, Jackie Hinderks ’20, Dena Colantino, ’19, and Quinn Gallen ’20. Over 30 students participated in the contest and over 80 students participated in the ugly sweater day at UMSL Optometry.  The judges for the contest were Dean of Students and Vice Provost Dr. Curt Coonrod, Director of Student Life Jessica Long-Pease, Assistant Manager of University Meadows Dana Banard, and Nursing Administrative Assistant Lisa Taylor. According to Director of Student Services Nick Palisch, “Today was meant to be a fun day by showing the holiday spirit and enjoying some hot chocolate and cookies before finals week.” Thank you to everyone who participated today by showing their holiday spirit.
