Guoqiang Li, Ph.D. Dr. Guoqiang Li received his Ph. D degree from Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. Then he worked at Carl Zeiss Meditech, Inc. as a Research Scientist. Prior to joining the College in 2008, he was an Associate Research Professor of College of Optical Sciences at University of Arizona. Dr. Li teaches Physical Optics and Optometry for the OD program and he integrates his research into teaching. His research has been sponsored by federal agencies and industries, and currently he has an active research program funded by National Institutes of Health and Coulter Foundation. Dr. Li is conducting interdisciplinary research in the field of vision optics and biomedical optics. He is interested in innovative technologies for improving vision, new approaches for detecting and preventing eye diseases, and noninvasive high-resolution imaging tools in biology and medicine. The current effort is devoted to developing next-generation adaptive optical elements for vision correction and developing advanced ophthalmoscope for early diagnosis of eye diseases and characterization of some dynamic ocular behaviors during accommodation. Another interest of research is to investigate biomedical cellular imaging based on confocal, optical coherence tomography, two-photon, acousto-optic, photoacoustic, and dynamic holographic techniques. Development of novel electro-optic devices is needed for these applications. Dr. Li has a track record in his research. He has authored or co-authored more than 75 refereed journal papers and two book chapters and has delivered over twenty invited presentations throughout the world. He has more than 30 conference presentations. His work has generated significant impact. Dr. Li has received recognition for his work, including the Outstanding Young Scholar Prize of Hong Kong Qiu-Shi Science & Technology Foundation. Dr. Li is a member of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), Optical Society of America (OSA) and the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). He serves as a technical program committee member for international conferences and is involved in organizing these conferences. He served as the panel member for the Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program of Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs. Open positions: Currently Dr. Li’s group has a few positions for postdoctoral researchers, PhD and MS graduate students. Please contact him at: Dr. Guoqiang Li |
