Pupil Project
The Pupil Project is an innovative program that brings together
the resources and expertise of the University of Missouri-St. Louis College
of Optometry and College of Education faculty to manage learning related vision
problems. The Pupil Project incorporates a multidisciplinary team of
optometrists, school psychologists, special educators and physical therapists.
The Pupil Project provides optometric, psychological and educational clinical
evaluation, diagnosis and remediation for children with learning related vision
problems. These multidisciplinary activities are performed concurrently
following discussion among team members. Parents are consulted and management
plans developed for each child referred to the project. A strength of
the program is the reporting of relevant suggestions to teachers for implementation
in the classroom.
