Christine Garhart, D.V.M., Ph.D. Assistant Teaching Professor
Dr. Christine Garhart joined the faculty in August 2003. Her primary responsibilities include instruction in the Biomedical Sciences track of the professional degree curriculum. Dr. Garhart majored in Biology at Cornell College in Iowa and earned a D.V.M. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1978. She has done postdoctoral research at The University of Chicago, Washington University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Tufts University. She trained in anatomic veterinary pathology at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital and Oklahoma State University before receiving a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in May 2002. Dr. Garhart’s research involved the immune response to Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium that causes gastric ulcers. Her interests include immunopathology and host-pathogen interactions.
