Nurse Practitioner
College of Nursing opportunities in the Nurse Practitioner Roles include adult, family, pediatric, and women's health. Each role requires a minimum of 43 credit hours and 600 clinical hours. In addition to core courses, which focus on health care policy and clinical decision making, students seeking the CNS or NP specializations take advanced courses in pharmacology and pathophysiology, as well as courses in the clinical management of their population of interest.
Completion of the Clinical Nurse Specialist Role or the Nurse Practitioner Role qualifies graduates for certification and advanced practice nurse status in Missouri.
Nurse Practitioner Faculty
The Nurse Practitioner graduate faculty are practicing certified nurse practitioners specializing in the specific areas they teach.
Admission Criteria
- Admission to the University Graduate School
- Graduation from a BSN program accredited by a nationally recognized nursing accrediting agency
- Professional nursing licensure
- Grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Completion of an undergraduate health assessment course
- Completion of a descriptive/inferential statistics cours
- Minimum two years clinical experience within the last five years with selected population
