Flex RN-BSN Program
UMSL's College of Nursing recognizes registered nurses as adult learners with years of experience who are balancing professional and family responsibilities. In 2001, the FLEX RN to BSN Program began by providing the professional nurse with multiple instructional options to earn the Bacchalaureate degree. FLEX is an acronym for Flexible Learning EXperience. The program is designed as part-time and takes two years (four full academic semesters and two summer terms) to complete.
The FLEX RN to BSN Program consists of three primary options:

Students may attend classes on UMSL's campus, one evening per week. New cohorts are admitted to the On Campus Option every other Fall semester, in odd-numbered years.

Students who choose the Online Option enjoy the convenience of attending class via the internet. Nursing course materials, lectures, and assignments are available throughout the semester at any time, and in any place. New cohorts are admitted to the Online Option every Fall semester.

- Students may attend classes one evening per week at one of five outreach sites throughout the St. Louis area. Courses are taught by UMSL faculty, and students pay UMSL tuition and outreach fees. However, classes physically take place at one of four outreach sites:
- St. Louis Community College at Forest Park
- St. Charles Community College
- UMSL West County Continuing Education Center
- Mercy Hospital
- New cohorts are admitted to St. Louis Community College at Forest Park and St. Charles Community College every other Fall semester, in even-numbered years. New cohorts are admitted to the UMSL West County Continuing Education Center every Spring semester; and to Mercy Hospital in Spring 2013.
