BSN Programs

In 1981, the University of Missouri - St. Louis established the baccalaureate completion program for registered nurses. In 1994, the program expanded to include a pre-licensure baccalaureate program, making the University the only public institution in the St. Louis metropolitan area that offers baccalaureate through doctoral nursing education. The College enjoys a mutually beneficial relationship with the regions largest and most sophisticated providers of health care services.

The undergraduate nursing programs are constituents of the National Student Nurses Association. This organization provides nursing students in the basic baccalaureate program the opportunity to connect with the nursing profession prior to licensure. The Nu Chi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing was installed at the College in 1994.

The BSN, MSN, and DNP programs at the College are fully accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the nationally recognized accrediting body for baccalaureate and higher degree programs, and the prelicensure program is fully approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.

The policies of the University of Missouri - St. Louis comply with the provisions under those laws which forbid discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability or veteran status in any program or activity of the university.

It is recommended that all prospective students view a copy of the Missouri Nursing Practices Act and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Functional Ability Requirements which delineate requirements that an individual must meet to perform nursing activities in a safe and effective manner.
