Kathy got her BSN and started in Pediatric Nursing at Denver Children’s Hospital. She got her Master’s in Psychiatric Nursing in 1985. Kathy had the opportunity to open a couple of children’s psychiatric inpatient units and manage a couple of psychiatric emergency departments. She got certified as a Service Dog Trainer in California and started a Therapy Dog program at a Psych hospital in California. In 1997, she moved back to St Louis, where she grew up. Kathy began teaching Pediatric and Psychiatric Nursing in 1999. She started teaching at UMSL in 2012.

  • Involved in improving adolescent and family health in north St Louis area.
  • Involved in research project helping to promote better health for children and their families in north St. Louis
  • Involved in animal rescue and training service dogs for children and veterans
