Hart

Dr. Donna Hart received a B.A. in Anthropology from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology from Washington University. Research interests include primate behavior and ecology, human evolution, and human variation. Recent research has focused on predation as an evolutionary force in the ancestry of humans. Man the Hunted, a book (Westview Press, 2005) co-authored with Robert Sussman, poses the theory that human ancestors were prey rather than hunters. The book was awarded the W. W. Howells Book Prize by the American Anthropological Association in 2006. New projects include a monograph on primate predation and a textbook on biological diversity within the human species. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Hart worked in the field of wildlife conservation.
