Honors Course Requirements: Credit Hours
Honors course requirements vary according to whether students
have been admitted as beginning freshmen or as transfer students.
All entering freshmen are
enrolled in the Four-Year Honors program (40 credit hours in Honors). Most
transfer students enter at the beginning of their junior year, and are enrolled
in the Two-Year Honors program (22 credit hours in Honors). Honors students
in either program may--and many do--take more than the minimum number of
credit hours in Honors.
All Honors courses can be used to meet General Education requirements, and many advanced Honors courses and most research projects may be used to meet major requirements. For fuller details of Honors course numbers and the General Education requirement(s) they normally fulfill, please see the Pierre Laclede Honors College section of the UM-St. Louis Bulletin.
