Missouri Statewide Conference for Nonprofit Organizations
Strengthening the Voice of the
Nonprofit Sector in Missouri

Conference Purpose & Design

This first ever Missouri Statewide Conference for Nonprofit Organizations will have an interactive, participatory format which will provide lots of opportunities for dialogue, sharing proven and promising practices and networking. The purpose of the conference is:

  • to bring Missouri nonprofit and philanthropic organizations from across the entire nonprofit sector together, to build our identity and strengthen our voice
  • to examine state-level public policy issues which affect the sector
  • to help nonprofit organizations understand and effectively engage in the public policy arena, particularly at the state level
  • to explore the level of interest in establishing a Missouri association of nonprofit organizations.

Featured Speakers

Diana Aviv is the president and CEO of Independent Sector, the national leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world. Diana also serves as executive director of the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector, an independent panel of charitable and philanthropic leaders.

Dennis R. Young, Ph.D., Professor of Public Administration and Urban Studies at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, is a widely respected authority in the nonprofit sector.  Dr. Young is also president and founding CEO of the National Center on Nonprofit Enterprise.  Dr. Young is a leading educator and speaker on nonprofit management and founder of one of the first nonprofit university centers in the nation.  He has also received a lifetime Award for Distinguished Achievement and Leadership in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Research from the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), the premier scholarly association in nonprofit and philanthropic studies.

Conference Details

The conference will be held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, Missouri and begin at Noon on Thursday, November 8, 2007, and runs through 2:30 p.m. on November 9. For registrations received before October 9th, the fee is $150 per participant. Afterward, the registration fee is $200.  Note: the conference fee is inclusive of resource materials, breakfast and lunch, and receptions and breaks.
