Dean's Report

Bob Dalgleish has resigned his position in the Graduate School/Office of Research Administration. By the time Council meets next month, his replacement, Patricia Barton, will be on board. Her agenda in the Graduate School will include:

*completion of an all program brochure,
*better graduate student data base for tracking time to degree, committee chair/advisor...
*handbook for graduate program directors.

Faculty should have received an e-mail from the Dean regarding research awards and an on-line fillable application. If the fillable application works well, then all of the Graduate School forms will be converted as well.

In response to a question, the Dean noted that required reallocations in the Graduate School and Office of Research Administration will require some reduction in support for graduate students and faculty research. The majority of the funding for these programs has been excluded from the reallocation process but there will be reductions in non-excluded accounts and E&E.

There being no other business the meeting adjourned at 2:05 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Piers Rawling
Vice Chairperson and Secretary
