A Message from the Dean
The University of Missouri – St. Louis is excited to join other universities worldwide in sharing our students’ research on the Web. With the electronic thesis and dissertation (ETD) initiative, we are accomplishing our mission as St. Louis’ public research university by making our graduate students’ research more accessible.
The project provides students with a more convenient submission process that can be completed any time of day, anywhere in the world. We have eliminated many costs associated with printing and mailing bulky packages.
Studies of ETDs show that many more scholars read them than they do paper or microfiche versions of students’ work. In addition, the use of multimedia provides a better experience for readers. Over time we expect to see an increase in the number of ETDs that support text with color, high-resolution pictures, video, and sound.
We are pleased to offer our students the advantages of the ETD and expect that scholars elsewhere will find their research valuable. We hope to hear from you as we pilot this initiative.
Judith Walker de Félix, Ph.D.
Associate Provost
Dean of the Graduate School
