Do you sing in the high school chorus? The church choir? The shower? Karaoke? Add your voice to the UM-St. Louis Community Chorus and sing under the direction of Robert Ray, one of the premier vocal conductors in the region. Membership is open to all who enjoy singing in a large choral group. Choral music of all kinds will be rehearsed and performed. Join the Community Chorus today:
St. Louis Community Jazz Ensemble Are you passionate about jazz? Can you play an instrument? Then this community jazz ensemble may be for you! Whether you play on a regular basis or haven't played in a long time, this ensemble will give you the opportunity to play under the direction of a nationally known jazz musician and big band director. So, dust off that instrument, and call (314) 516-4235 to audition now! Auditions are open to the university community and the public. Instrumentation is limited for each section by the requirements of the jazz ensemble literature and the discretion of the instructor. For more information or to audition, contact Jim Widner at (314) 516-4235.
St. Louis Wind Symphony The premier wind band of the St. Louis metropolitan area, the St. Louis Wind Symphony is an all-volunteer concert band dedicated to the quality performance of serious literature for wind groups of all sizes. Comprised largely of current and former music educators who believe that the importance of music is demonstrated by active participation in its creation and passing the knowledge of it onto others, the Symphony is committed to enriching the community by sharing the love of music and providing educational opportunities for area students. Rehearsals will culminate in a concert with the University Symphonic Band on March 13, 2008, in the Touhill Performing Arts Center.
