Community Tool Kit
Welcome to the Community Tool Kit. The Community Tool Kit is designed for residents, associations, and organizations to work individually and collectively to strengthen their capacity to sustain positive, local community change. It encompasses a number of dimensions of community work including building consensus, action planning, collaboration, asset mapping, and outreach. Every neighborhood setting and neighborhood group is different. Therefore, it is important to adjust the tools and necessary steps for your own context.
The Tool Kit is laid out in six different tool boxes – Running Effective Meetings; Outreach; Planning and Visioning; Gathering Information; Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution; and Capacity Building. Within each tool box, there are several tools that will help you and your organization create change. There are a number of ways to use this tool kit: get an introduction to new techniques, get a refresher on those that you’ve used before, or look at the samples and checklists for ideas.
Start organizing your neighborhood…and don’t forget your Tool Kit.
