Nonprofit organizations in search of strategies to raise operating funds are increasingly turning to social enterprises in order to bring in earned income. (According to the Social Enterprise Alliance, a social enterprise is any earned-income business or strategy undertaken by a nonprofit to generate revenue in support of its charitable mission.) Is commercialization or social enterprise development a promising way for nonprofits to supplement donations or grants and achieve self-sufficiency? Can these efforts help nonprofits fulfill their missions or deliver their services?
Join us on Thursday, April 17, at 3:00 p.m. for a panel discussion on “Charity for Profit: Exploring Social Enterprise Ventures in St. Louis.” The panel will present research data on social enterprises and discuss the experiences and impact in the St. Louis region.
