Community Partnership Project: Castle Park Apartments (Normandy)
FIELD RESEARCH STAFF
Castle Park Apartments (Normandy)
Castle Park Apartments/Normandy School District
Spring, Summer, or Fall 2007
Castle Park Apartments provides subsidized housing for individuals and families who meet income requirements (Section 8 Housing guidelines). Section 8 Housing is intended to be transitional housing, with residents working to gain employment sufficient to allow them to move into nonsubsidized housing. The Castle Park Apartment manager is working to assess the social service interests and needs of residents. The Normandy School District is also interested in ensuring children from the apartment complex have opportunities to prepare themselves to succeed in school.
The opportunity is to work with the parent resource facilitator at the Normandy School District (MSW), the assistant manager at Castle Park Apartments, and Community Partnership Project staff to plan and implement a community assessment. The assessment may include investigating current programming available and current program participation, surveying residents on interests and needs, and recommending programming and other activities to be determined.
