Closing the Food Gap

A food desert is an urban district with little or no access to foods needed to maintain a healthy diet. The Community Partnership Project is working with the Old North St. Louis Restoration Group to develop a set of strategies to improve access to fresh, local, affordable, and healthy food and support local farmers and Missouri producers. Neighborhood Leadership Academy tour of 5th Ward in the City of St. Louis

2009 NLA Class Tours 5th Ward

The 2009 Neighborhood Leadership Academy class toured the 5th Ward in the City of St. Louis as part of their April 25th session. The tour was hosted by Sal Martinez, executive director of Community Renewal and Development, and 5th Ward Alderwoman April Ford Griffin. NLA 2008 graduate Deanetta James, a resident of the 5th Ward, also spoke to the class about her NLA experience and the changes she has seen in her community.
