QUICK REFERENCE
FALL 2008 • August 18-December 13 Sociological Statistics Prerequisite: SOC 1010 and Math 1020 or 1030. Issues and techniques of statistical analysis relevant to quantitative sociological research, e.g., elementary probability, measurements of central tendency and dispersion, measures of relationships including linear regression and correlation, and inferential statistics. Topics in Social Policy: Disaster and the Law Prerequisites: SOC 1010 and junior standing, or consent of instructor. This course is intended to familiarize students with the general legal framework in the United States into which the subject of disasters and the law fits. It provides an understanding of the coordination of resources required to respond to disastrous situations and examines Section 1076 of Public Law 109-364 in the context of a movement toward centralization of power in Washington, D.C.
