Mathematics for High School Teachers: An Advanced Perspective

This course examines high school mathematics from a higher point of view. A major goal of the course is for secondary school teachers to gain a deeper and more profound understanding of the mathematical topics that they teach. The course focuses on algebra and analysis with connections to geometry. Topics include real and complex numbers, functions, equations, integers, and polynomials.

Grading Policy: Weekly problem sets will be assigned and graded. Grades will be determined by performance on these problem sets.

Note: Students in the MA in Mathematics program can count this course as one of their 5000-level electives.

The required text, Mathematics for High School Teachers: An Advanced Perspective, is available in the UMSL Bookstore.
