POSITION DESCRIPTION
ASSISTANT DEAN, CONTINUING EDUCATION MARKETING & E-COMMUNICATIONS

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Directly responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the implementation of all marketing, and electronic communication, including directing and analyzing market research efforts that inform decision making in the Division of Continuing Education (CE). Primary goals are to gain increased enrollments in CE programs and enhance CE's image among external and internal audiences.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

Coordinate external and internal market research efforts and interpret data for program planning.

Lead organizational marketing, advertising and communication planning, implementation, and evaluation. Create and administer strategic, results-oriented marketing plans for CE.

Serve as a project manager and oversee marketing campaigns from the development stage to the final output: including design, production, and distribution of all print publications; creation and purchasing of advertisements; development and distribution of press releases and PR packages; and design and management of the CE home page and program websites. Manage direct and mass marketing activities.

Lead e-communications efforts for the Division and CE programs.

Direct database creation and maintenance, including a customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Conduct post-evaluations of marketing and e-communications campaigns and revise future efforts accordingly.

Develop and implement policies and processes to improve execution of CE marketing and e-communications efforts.

Advise and educate the CE Leadership Team and program directors on marketing related issues.

Manage the Division's marketing budget and assist in planning and administering general operating budget for the division's marketing and e-communications activities. Control expenditure of funds and report financial transactions.

Represent the division, prepare reports, and perform special projects as requested by the Dean.

Plan, assign and review the work of professional and office support staff.

Manage professional and office support staff in the CE Marketing Office.

Maintain active role in appropriate CE professional organizations (e.g. UCEA).

Coordinate with the Director of Campus Marketing adherence to University standards and branding for marketing materials.

Other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direction is received from the Dean, Division of Continuing Education for strategic development, and direction is received from the Associate Dean, Division of Continuing Education for daily operations
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Functional and administrative supervision is exercised over four to six professional and office support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in marketing, or related field, and three to five years of marketing experience and three to five years of management experience required. Experience in a university or educational environment is desirable.
