1. What is your education?
A bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Arizona in 1981. In 1983, he entered a masters program in MIS. He graduated with his masters in 1987.
What do you suggest to students in
the current program?
a) take the C++ track because all those COBOL programmers will be looking for work after this Y2K work dries up;
b) get some VB experience and a technical certification;
c) choose your student jobs carefully and don't be afraid to experiment with different jobs -- it's harder to switch gears later in life.
2. What is your experience?
Right after graduating from the University of Arizona, in 1981, he landed an auditor positionwith Price Waterhouse. He moved from the nice, warm climate of Arizona to the chilly climate of St. Louis just in time for that record-breaking snowfall back in 1982. Yuck! He worked with digicards, and he found this work so terribly monotonous that he wrote a program to automate the process. For a while, he worked for McDonnell Douglas. He is currently the Technology Director at EFG.

Variety of different work.

The stress and deadlines.

7. What was your most challenging professional moment?
In 1990, he developed software for a banking system. He lead that project using new technologies. It was a big project, and he was short on time. But he did it!
He used to be the treasurer for the St. Louis Shakespeare Company. He led a fight against the Chesterfield Fire Department to save a firehouse.
9. What are your hobbies?
Reading science-fiction and fantasy novels.
