Pooja Srivatsa

Pooja earned an MS in MIS in the Fall of 2003 after completing a MA in Economics at UMSL in Fall 2001.
After graduation, she worked as a business analyst on the SAP project team at AIG, New York City.
In 2006, Pooja moved to California to work as a Sr. Business Systems Analyst at Amgen, one of the largest biotech companies in the world. She is now in the core Business Intelligence team, implementing SAP as a data warehouse and analytical reporting tool for the company.
We sat down with Pooja and asked her some questions.
- Why did you decide to come to UM-St. Louis?
- The MIS program had a good reputation. Also I was able to receive a graduate assistantship.
- Why did you pursue a career in information systems?
- I was interest in technology, especially Enterprise Resource Planning and business analysis
- What college classes did you find most useful to your career?
- Systems Analysis with Vicki Sauter, and Managerial Information Systems
- If you were in college today, what courses would you take?
- More programming classes
- How did you find your first job?
- Through a job search website.
- In what non-academic activities did you participate in college that you would recommend to others (and why)?
- International Student Association Student Board
- How would you change your career if you had it to do all over again?
- I would not change anything.
- What advice would you give to someone just starting in the field?
- Network, network, network! Get internship experience.
