Navarro Mentoring Project

Mr. Navarro is a Senior Lecturer in the University of Missouri – Saint Louis’ College of Business Administrations, where he teaches courses in Process Management and Financial and Project Management. He retired from the Boeing Company in 2006 after 42 years; his most recent assignment was as Boeing Director of Information Technology and Corporate Business Systems Architect, responsible for IT business systems technologies and directions for the corporation. His previous assignments had included serving as Director of Information Systems, Director Systems and Processes Integration/JSF, Director of Quality Systems Integration, Chief Engineer - Chief Software Technologist, and Chief Engineer - F/A-18 Ground Systems.

Dick was graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, and holds Master’s of Science Degrees in Mechanical Engineering and in Computer Sciences and a Master’s of Business Administration; he was awarded a Professional Degree in Aerospace Sciences by the University of Missouri – Rolla in 1997. He holds emeritus status on the UMSL MIS Board of Visitors. He is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA and is a member of the UMR Academy of Mechanical Engineers.

In addition to his position with the University of Missouri – Saint Louis he is an Adjunct Professor in the Engineering Management Department of the College of Business at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (UMR). He is also an adjunct professor in the MBA departments at Washington University in Saint Louis and at Webster University where he teaches courses in IT Technology Evaluation and Management and Production Operations, respectively.

Dick and Virginia, an Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Missouri – Saint Louis, have been married for 38 years and have four children: Paul, 35, an attorney in North Carolina; Kevin, 33, a middle school teacher and Associate Head of School in Saint Louis; Jon, 27, Clean Air Coordinator for the North Carolina Research Triangle; and Claire, 22, a publications editor in Chicago. When Dick is not teaching, volunteering at the Saint Louis Museum of Transportation, or reading his e-mail at home he can often be found in the basement of their 90 plus year old home working on what will some day be the finest HO-Scale model railroad in Glendale.
