Assurance of Learning
What should business school graduates know and be able to do as they move from their college classes to their professional careers? How do we know that University of Missouri – St. Louis students are graduating with the skills and knowledge that they will need in order to succeed in business?
Our process, called “assurance of learning,” develops and reviews goals or outcomes for student learning, measures those goals in classes, and then assesses student strengths and weaknesses in meeting the goals and standards.
A major outcome of the assessment process was the creation of separate undergraduate and graduate AoL Committees that consisted of a faculty representative from each of the academic disciplines. To support the continuous improvement and to develop integration with the AoL Committee, the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies were assigned as co-chairs of the committees. Assurance of Learning Activities. As noted earlier, the AoL Committee is responsible for curriculum.
