Warner Baxter was named executive vice president and chief financial officer in October 2003, after having been named senior vice president, Finance, in September 2001. Mr. Baxter’s duties include overseeing Ameren’s finance functions as well as its corporate and strategic planning activities.
Mr. Baxter joined Union Electric in August 1995 as assistant controller. He was named controller of the Union Electric Company in 1996. Following the 1997 merger of Union Electric and CIPSCO Incorporated, he served as vice president and controller of Ameren Corporation and Ameren Services.Before joining Ameren, Mr. Baxter served as senior manager in PriceWaterhouseCooper’s, LLP National Office in New York City. He worked in that office’s Accounting and SEC Services Department, assisting in formulating firm-wide accounting positions, including those related to the public utilities industry, as well as monitoring the activities of various accounting standard-setting bodies. From 1983 to 1993, Mr. Baxter worked in the Accounting and Auditing Services Department of the firm’s St. Louis office, where he provided auditing and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries.
Mr. Baxter earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Missouri. In May of 2003, Mr. Baxter was appointed to the Missouri Energy Policy Council by Governor Bob Holden. Mr. Baxter serves as Vice President of the Chancellor’s Council at the University of Missouri – St. Louis and is on the Leadership Council of the College of Business. In addition, Mr. Baxter is a member or the Board of Trustees of the Wyman Center. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
