Dr. Michael Banks

Michael Banks served as dean of the Arts and Humanities Division at St. Charles Community College from 1994 until July, 2003 when he was appointed as Vice President for Academic Affairs. In his position as vice president, Dr. Banks oversees all academic divisions at SCC, including Arts and Humanities; Business and Social Science; Math, Science, and Health; Corporate and Community Development; and Learning Resources.
Prior to joining SCC, Dr. Banks was an Assistant Professor and served as the director of performing arts at Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio, and as the theater department chair at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He has taught a variety of theater and communications classes at these institutions as well as at SCC.
A native of St. Louis, Dr. Banks earned his bachelor’s degree and doctorate at St. Louis University. He completed his master’s degree at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Ill.
Banks lives in unincorporated St. Charles County with his wife and two sons.
Banks is a member of the Missouri Consortium for Global Education, the Community Colleges Humanities Association, the Missouri Community College Association, the St. Charles County Arts Council, the Cottleville-Weldon Spring Rotary, and the Central Elementary Site Improvement Committee for the Francis Howell School District.
