Bob grew up in Richmond Heights, and graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a BS in Civil Engineering (cum laude) in 1963. He entered the MBA program at Washington University, graduated in 1965, and took a position as a Cost Engineer at Eastman Kodak. After one year he returned to Washington University for doctoral studies and graduated in 1969. He joined the faculty at UMSL in 1969, taught there until 1978, and also served as Department Chair - Management Science and Associate Dean - Graduate Studies. He then left to become Management Science Department Chair at the Moore School, University of South Carolina. He taught at USC for 30 years, and served 17 years as Management Science Department Chair, 7 years as Associate Dean - Academic Affairs and 6 years as Associate Dean - Administration. While at the Moore School he was also the Executive Director of the Business Partnership Foundation and was the James C. Self Distinguished Foundation Fellow. During his academic career Bob wrote authored, or co-authored, four books and more than 100 academic papers. He received several professional and teaching awards, including an AMOCO Excellence in Teaching Award at UMSL in 1975. Bob's wife, Mylla, earned a masters degree in Education from UMSL. She and Bob have two sons and nine grandchildren.
