|Thomas A. Peterson|
Vice President Supplier Management
Boeing Military Aircraft
Defense, Space & Security
UMSL Business – Logistics, Operations and Supply Chain Management Board 2016
Tom Peterson is vice president of Supplier Management, Boeing Military Aircraft (BMA). He is also responsible for Mission Systems Contracting across Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS).
BMA spends $9 billion annually for products and services with hundreds of suppliers worldwide. Peterson leads the organization that collaborates with these suppliers to manage supply chain effectiveness, including cost and supplier performance. In addition, his team develops and grows relationships with suppliers to strengthen new business pursuits across the BMA portfolio.
Before joining BMA, Peterson led the Commodities & Services Contracting team for BDS. In that role, he focused on leveraging $5B in annual spend across BDS, partnering with Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) to provide affordable market-based pricing in support of BDS' customers and programs.
Peterson has an extensive record of driving execution in the areas of general procurement, deployment of standard systems across BDS, and in Global Services & Support (GS&S). Among his previous assignments, he was the director of Systems & Tools for BDS Supply & Operations Chain (S&OC), where he had responsibility for the strategies for the deployment of standard systems. This included Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP) and Procurement, which involved integration and Boeing's digital enablement with its supply base. Peterson also served as director of Supplier Management for the GS&S business.
His career at Boeing, which spans three decades, also includes Systems Engineering and Supplier Management, including leadership roles on tactical aircraft and weapons programs.
Peterson holds a master's in business administration, as well as a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
