Organization/Award: American Psychological Association (APA), Division 35 The Society for Psychology of Women - Hyde Graduate Student Research Grants

Description: Provide funding for four psychology graduate students each year conducting feminist research projects. Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of theoretical and methodological soundness, relevance to feminist goals, applicant's training and qualifications to conduct the research, and feasibility of completing the project. Doctoral students are eligible to apply for these grants.

Description: Annual prize is awarded to the author of a research paper within the field of psychology that has significant relevance to womens lives or the emerging understanding of gender role influence on human behavior.

Organization/Award: Geis Memorial Award for Dissertation Research

Description: Annual award presented to an advanced doctoral candidate conducting dissertation research in the area of Psychology of Women. Research must be feminist, address a feminist/womanist issue and use social psychology research methods.

Organization/Award: American Psychological Association (APA) Minority Fellowship Program

Description: The Minority Fellowship Programs objective is to increase the knowledge of issues related to ethnic minority mental health and to improve the quality of mental health treatment delivered to ethnic minority populations. The program provides financial support and professional guidance to individuals pursuing doctoral degrees in psychology. Offer fellowships for the following areas of study within the field of psychology: (1) Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, (2) Mental Health Research, (3) HIV/AIDS, (4) Summer Institute on Aging, and (5) Neuroscience. All psychology doctoral students are eligible to apply and minority applicants are especially encouraged.

Organization/Award: Science Directorate of the American Psychological Association (APA) Dissertation Research Awards

Description: Purpose of the awards is to assist doctoral students in psychology with research costs. Approximately 50 winners are selected each year whose dissertation research reflects excellence in scientific psychology.

Organization/Award: Science Directorate of the American Psychological Association (APA) Student Travel Awards

Description: Provide funding for psychology graduate students to travel to the annual APA Convention to present their research. Applicants who are both members of the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) and first authors are also eligible to have their convention registration fees waived.

Organization/Award: National Institutes of Health (NIH) Predoctoral Fellowship Awards for Minority Students

Description: Offer predoctoral fellowships to graduate students who are members of the following minority groups: African-Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, and Pacific Islanders. Students must be enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent research degree program in the areas of biomedicine, behavioral science or health service. The awards are meant to help students pay for living expenses, tuition, fees and health insurance.
