Interests: As a Senior Lecturer in Spanish, teaches beginner’s through advanced levels of Spanish language courses, including a service-learning course.
Education: Martha Caeiro studied at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, where she was born and raised. She earned two degrees from the School of Languages of that university, one in English teaching and one in English-to-Spanish translation. In 1990 she moved to St. Louis to pursue her graduate studies in the Department of Romance Languages of Washington University, and to work as a Teaching Assistant of Spanish. She earned a Master’s degree in Spanish from Washington University.
Teaching: Martha Caeiro has taught college-level Spanish language courses since she arrived in St. Louis, first as a Teaching Assistant in Washington University and then as a Lecturer at this University, where she has worked full-time since 1995. Her current teaching interest is service-learning. Every Winter/Spring semester she offers a service-learning course- Practicum in Spanish. This course introduces students to the Hispanic/Latino cultures in the US through service to local community organizations as well as academic work.
Personal History: Martha Caeiro was born and raised in Córdoba, Argentina. She currently lives in St. Louis with her husband and two children, and travels frequently to her hometown in Argentina, where her family lives.
