Men have the advantage over women.

True for this group, but probably not true anymore.

The Class of Spring ‘77 is 27 men, 10 women.

Average number of novels published by men: 5.6. By women: 3.

All of the most-published authors are men.

This advantage has probably disappeared in the last 30 years. Jonathan Franzen said in the late '90s in the Atlantic Monthly that he thought the advantage was now with women novelists, since most readers were female.
