What is GIS?
GIS is an applied skill that will provide you with an advantage when seeking a variety of jobs in the private and public sector, including: urban/regional planning, conservation, economics, engineering, cartography, geology, education, land management, marketing, transportation, anthropology, public policy, sociology, medical research, and information technology.

 

BIOL 4192 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Tuesdays 12:30 – 5:20pm for 5 credit hours

Come and join in on an exciting, hands-on course that provides a solid foundation for using GIS for spatial analyses.  A range of examples and data sets are employed to emphasize the use of GIS as a tool to support analyses and decision making.   In the end of the course you will have the spatial analytical skills and knowledge to address a variety of questions and problems that your research or job may require.
