Fields of Specialization

Anthropology Is
Anthropology is the study (logos) of humans (anthropos). It includes cultural anthropology (the study of living humans), archaeology (the study of prehistoric and historic human beings) and biological anthropology (the study of the evolution and biology of humans and their nearest relatives, the primates).

A Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology is offered with a focus on applied and theoretical skills. Within the anthropology major, a student may choose to informally emphasize cultural anthropology or archaeology.

The Minor in Anthropology is designed to offer students a flexible introduction to the fundamentals of the discipline to complement their major field of study. A minor is advisable for anyone planning a career with intercultural or international dimensions, where knowledge of cultural systems, environments, values and symbols is useful.
