The University of Missouri - St. Louis proudly offers classes that prepare students to enter a clinical laboratory school. While taking the required classes students should also pursue the B.A. or B.S. degree in the major of their choice. Since admission requirements can vary between schools, it is highly recommended that students consult the catalogs of the schools to which they intend to apply. Updated information can be found in the Directory of Graduate Programs for Clinical Laboratory Practitioners which can be obtained online at the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science website. Students are also encouraged to meet regularly with the pre-health advisor to ensure they are meeting requirements.
In addition to taking required classes, students should plan to regularly participate in extracurricular activities such as volunteering and research.
Students may also be required to sit a national entrance exam such as the GRE during their junior year. Practice tests are regularly offered on campus by third-party test prep organizations.
Each year, the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places. Students are encouraged to have alternative plans should they not gain entrance. For further information contact the Office of Undergraduate Student Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences, 303 Lucas Hall, 314-516-5501.
