Requesting a Federal Work Study
Student Employee

A Federal Work Study Request & Job Description Form must be submitted to Career Services for supervisors to be eligible to hire a student employee through the Federal Work Study program. These forms are sent or e-mailed to supervisors prior to each semester and are also available upon request. Request forms returned by the deadline date are posted for student consideration on the Career Services web site prior to the start of each semester. Late requests will not be given the same prompt consideration as those submitted on time. Available positions are removed from the web site as they are filled or when the placement period ends.

The Federal Work Study Request & Job Description Form provides valuable information about your available positions. Career Services and student employee candidates use this information to determine the best work arrangement.

Please provide the following information:

  • Name and address of work site.
  • Supervisor's name, telephone number, and e-mail address (if applicable)· Specific days and hours to be worked.
  • Duties and responsibilities expected.
  • Skill level as defined by the Wage Guidelines, year in college, and experience desired.

In order to be eligible for Work Study, students must apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available in Student Financial Aid and on-line. The number of students awarded Federal Work Study is dependent on the yearly allocation of funds and the unmet financial need of the individual student.
