Women’s Networking Series
Place: Millennium Student Center
Date: October 29, 2009
Time: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Purpose: The Women’s Networking Series is to enhance the knowledge and skills of women students about networking. It is open to any major, undergraduates and graduates.
Networking, like many customs or practices, is not always understandable or comprehensible. It is difficult to teach and to learn. Specialists assert the best way to improve networking skills is to practice, although there are skills and basic information that should be understood in order that the practice becomes an effective method for this skill set.
Because many students, particularly women, have not been sufficiently exposed to the higher levels of business and other organizations, it would stand to reason they are not familiar enough with networking. Nonetheless, networking is crucial; it is a soft skill, deemed “essential” for success in any organizational environment. In order for women students to realize their potential in their careers, they need to value and engage in networking.
To register, contact Dr. Malaika Horne, Director of the Executive Leadership Consortium at hornem@umsl.edu or ext. 4749.
