Federal Work Study and Student Employment
Federal Work Study is designed
to provide part-time employment opportunities to undergraduate and
graduate students who need the
income to help to meet the costs
of post-secondary education.
In 2003, the University of Missouri-St. Louis’ Financial Aid Office and Career Services joined together in the administration of the Federal Work Study Program. While the Financial Aid Office determines eligibility and allocates Work Study funds to students, Career Services develops employment opportunities, refers students to positions, and provides training for students and employers.
The Community Service Work Study Program offers an alternative to traditional on-campus employment by creating jobs in which students have the opportunity to earn work-study wages while helping people in the community. Transportation, in some cases, is required.
