UMSL Theatre and Cinema students have the opportunity to experience various performance and workshop spaces. Majors in our department progress through a comprehensive curriculum that embraces all the arts and crafts of theatre and cinema.

What UMSL has to offer

The Department produces three to four main stage performances each year, including a full-length musical or opera. The Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center is a state of the art performance facility on campus, built to provide a home for campus events, academic programs, and regional art organizations. The Departments newest performance space is the Kranzberg Arts Center located in the Theatre District of Grand Center, offering additional opportunities and exposure within St. Louis. Non-majors are welcome to enroll in Theatre courses; several of the courses satisfy general education requirements. Students in other disciplines may also elect to pursue a Minor in Theatre.  Auditions for each production are open to all majors at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
