To further elevate our theatre and dance curriculum, UMSL has partnered with Dance St. Louis and Modern American Dance Company (MADCO). This unmatched resource is made exclusive to UMSL students.
The Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Missouri–St. Louis provides students with a solid core of theatre and dance courses with additional flexibility to design a course of study tailored to the individual.
UMSL's faculty members are actively engaged in creative and scholarly research locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, holding awards from the Kennedy Center, the American College Theatre Festival and others.
Individual faculty members have been nationally recognized for teaching excellence as well as for their performative work in the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Bermuda Sun and Denver Post. Additionally, UMSL's faculty volunteers their talents on campus and throughout the St. Louis community, enriching local theatre and dance culture.
UMSL's theatre and dance degree program offers four main-stage productions each academic year. The University Players, a well-renowned student organization, remains open to any UMSL student, as is the Group Formerly Known as Jeté, UMSL's student dance organization.
UMSL's Department of Theatre and Dance offers a BA in theatre and dance and a minor.
